Volunteering in Stricken New Orleans

My friend Barbara, whom I met at language school in Prague in 2004, recently had the opportunity to go down to New Orleans with a hurricane cleanup crew. She has posted an illustrated account of her trip: new orleans. Since I've been out of the US since September and not really keeping track of things there, it was something of a shock to see how slowly the cleanup efforts are really proceeding.
