Kolo kolo mlynsky :::: Just don’t call him that - the slippery slope of house shoe parlance
All right, I've discovered another Prague blog, this one a really charming and well-written one by Julia, who describes herself as "A Southern computer geek, scribbler, ex-musician, and toddler wrangler living in Prague, Czech Republic." For your delectation I offer her discussion of Czech house slippers at Kolo kolo mlynsky :::: Just don’t call him that - the slippery slope of house shoe parlance. I had meant to write about this topic eventually, but Julia has done a much better and more thorough job than I would have.

Oh man--tapochki are in Prague too! Yes, slippers are a very important part of life here. Poor is the housewife who can't provide her guests a pair...
Hey, this is a major fact of Czech culture. (No surprise that the Russians also practice this.) Anyone who comes here needs to know to remove their shoes instantly upon entering a dwelling. Some younger people eschew the practice, but it does keep the mud at bay.
